Sharrway Farm and Transport offers first class transportation for the small equine. As Miniature Horse and American Shetland breeders and owners, we are aware of the special needs of the small equine and the need for competitive rates with high quality transportation.
We have "gone the extra mile" to assure the riding comfort of the horses entrusted to us. We have installed a special 3/4" non-porous foam padding under our standard trailer mats to take much of the road shock off the legs and bodies of the horses. The new padding benefits weanling, mares in foal, mares with foals at side, young horses, as well as the oldsters. Offering them a much more forgiving surface to stand on for extended periods of time.
The quality of our service reflects the years of experience we have had as Miniature Horse and American Shetland owners. We gladly furnish references upon request.

Coggins and Health Regulations
All miniature horses and ponies MUST have a CURRENT coggins test and HEALTH CERTIFICATE before being loaded on our trailer. We would prefer that all health certificates include the horses temperature on them, many states require this information. Several states require BRAND INSPECTIONS for horses to be transported within or out of those states. It is YOUR responsibility to know the rules and regulations of your state AND the states your horse will be transported THROUGH BEFORE pick up! Your veterinary can supply you with this information. We also suggest that you include a copy of the horses registration papers NEVER SEND THE ORIGINALS with your horse. Copies are adequate.
Insurance
We strongly recommend that the OWNER carry full liability and major medical / mortality insurance on any horse being shipped.
We are not responsible for conduct or acts of horses to themselves or each other, nor loss or damage arising from the condition of the animals themselves, or which results from their nature or propensities. We recommend that expanded coverage be arranged via your insurance agent.
Required Items for Each Horse:
Halter and lead rope, any special feed, bale of hay (hay the horse is used to eating). We will transport small articles, such as blankets, ribbons, trophies, harnesses and occasionally carts as space permits.
Health & Safety
Our main area of concern is the safety and health of the horses we transport. Miniatures and ponies have many special needs while on the road. Adequate amounts of clean fresh water, good quality hay, (we ask that the owners provide adequate amounts of hay to get the horse or pony, to its destination so no change of diet is experienced) minimum stress, scheduled rest stops, with a large doses of TLC thrown in for good measure. Water is offered throughout the entire trip. If the miniature horse or pony isn't a show animal they have free choice hay, or alfalfa, depending on their owners directions for feeding. We stop frequently to check the condition of the horses and for signs of stress. Longer trips have 6 to 8 hour rest periods or over night stops at pre-selected spots.
Equipment and Maintenance
Our equipment consists of a 2002 One Ton Dodge diesel noted for their reliability and a 2003 model aluminum trailer designed and customized especially for safe transportation of miniatures and ponies, with plenty of ventilation. Our vehicles and trailer go through a thorough inspection before the start of each days trip, and are serviced by our dealers on a regular basis. In the unlikely event of a mechanical breakdown, we have a list of reliable layovers throughout the country for the comfortable safe lodging of your equine.
Cleaning and Disinfections
Each stall is cleaned and disinfected between animals, with the whole trailer being power-washed with disinfectant after each long trip. We are noted for our transporting ability for weanlings, mares in foal, & mares and foals, with special attention given for their safety and special needs. When hauling brood mares we ask that you work closely with your veterinarian, as to the best procedure for in-route care. We will follow all veterinary instructions to "the letter". Should an animal get ill during the trip we will notify you immediately and locate a veterinarian to check the animal if we or you deem it necessary.
Stress
Stress is the biggest enemy of miniature horses and ponies whether it is a short trip or cross-country. We suggest, if your horse is going to be hauled in a few days you start giving electrolytes prior to our pick up. This will help to relieve some of the stress caused by transporting. All horses MUST be halter broken.
Rates:
***** Please note - due to the increasing fuel prices the per/mile amounts are subject to change without notice.
Routes:
We are a small operation, where excellent care is given your animals. We try to accommodate everyone but it is not always feasible to have your horse delivered exactly where and when you would like. We make every effort to schedule runs to the east coast, west coast, north and south and points in between. Please realize that in order to keep our rates competitive, we MUST have a full trailer load going in the same general direction! Please allow adequate time to find others wishing to transport to the same region.
Should you have a special need, we will be happy to discuss it with you on an individual basis. To request a Quote - please fill out our Tranport Quote Request Form completely and accurately.
